So what’s with this obsession with Iran and nukes? I thought the mantra was “guns don’t kill people, people kill people”.
What’s the difference? Nukes are just bigger guns, better at killing more people. A bit like the difference between the one-shot inaccurate guns they used when the Second Amendment was written and the assault machine-guns you can buy now, only more so.
But the Iranians are crazy, you say. We shouldn’t allow crazy people to get nukes. Just like we don’t allow crazy people to buy guns at gun shows. Whoops, wrong argument. We do allow crazy people to buy guns at gun shows.
Or maybe it’s just Americans who can be trusted with dangerous weapons. After all, we have the best interests of the world at heart. What’s that you say? Tell that to the people who were nuked in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Oh, you can’t, they’re all dead. Or tell that to the dead people in Vietnam, or the dead people in Korea, or the dead people in Iraq, or the dead people in Afghanistan.
Whoops. Not a good argument. Perhaps it is bad to let even wonderful people like us have dangerous weapons.
