Do you make less than $1.6 million a year?

You loser.

At least if you are trying to live a reasonable life style in New York. A recent NY Times article says “The total costs here, which do not include a lot of things, like kennels for the dog when the family is away, summer camp, spas and other grooming for the human members of the family, donations to charity, and frozen hot chocolates at Serendipity, are $790,750, which would require about a $1.6-million salary to compensate for taxes. Give or take a few score thousand of dollars.

Apparently there are people living in New York making $2 – 3 million a year who end up with nothing at the end of the year. Must be tough when you live in a society where you have to fit in, or you come across as a loser. Thank god there’s more to this country than New York.

Here’s the article if you want to learn more about what such a family spend their money on.
